I have been talking with a lot of people around Norwich about starting a community garden, and the feedback is that most everyone thinks it is a great idea. For this to work, we will need a lot of people to volunteer a little bit of their time and/or resources. My goal is to get enough people helping that we can spread out the work and resources in a way that makes it easier on all of us.

The short term goal is to have a garden up and running for next year (2025), I would like to eventually expand this to different types of gardens around Norwich, so long as the interest and support is there. June at Ye Olde General Store has been nice enough to allow us to have the first garden next to her store.

We are still in the planning stages for this and any input is appreciated, we have a forum in this site under the Forum tab at the top where you can post any information that you think will be helpful.

The Volunteer tab has a test schedule for signing up to help with different things that are needed in the garden, like weeding, watering, etc.. When we get closer, we will update the volunteer schedule to meet what is actually needed.

My plan is to provide a sitting area somewhere in the garden, where people can hangout and visit, eat, or just relax, while being able to browse the web on personal laptops and tablets. I also plan on setting up a Wi-Fi camera that shows the garden, so you can look in on the garden any time you want, to see its progress.

We plan to have the garden next to Ye Olde General Store, behind the greenhouse on main street in Norwich KS.
